How does anonymity work?

We protect your anonymity through several mechanisms. We do not collect or store your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information when you submit a report. Only the PayPal transaction ID is recorded for payment verification purposes.

The message sent to the recipient contains no information about who sent it. There are no headers, metadata, or tracking information that could reveal your identity.

Can the recipient find out who sent the report?

No. The recipient receives an email that contains no identifying information about the sender. The email comes from our system and is completely anonymous.

However, we cannot control what the recipient may infer based on context (timing, workplace dynamics, etc.). Our system ensures technical anonymity, but contextual anonymity depends on your discretion.

What information do you store about me?

We store minimal information:

  • The recipient's email address
  • The message tone selected
  • The PayPal transaction ID
  • The timestamp of submission

We do NOT store your name, email, IP address, or any information that could identify you. This data is automatically deleted after 90 days.

Why does it cost $5?

The $5 fee serves multiple purposes. It helps cover operational costs including email delivery, payment processing, system maintenance, and abuse prevention measures.

Additionally, the nominal fee helps prevent abuse by creating a friction point that discourages frivolous or malicious use of the service.

What payment methods do you accept?

We currently accept payment through PayPal, which allows you to use credit cards, debit cards, or your PayPal balance.

PayPal was chosen specifically because it provides an additional layer of anonymity - we never see your payment card information, and only receive a transaction ID from PayPal.

Is this website legitimate?

How quickly will the report be sent?

Reports are typically sent within 5 minutes of payment confirmation. In rare cases of high volume or technical issues, delivery may take up to 1 hour.

The recipient will receive an email at the address you provided during submission.

What if I enter the wrong email address?

Please double-check the recipient's email address before submitting. Once a report is sent, we cannot recall or redirect it.

If you realize you made an error immediately after submission, contact our support team right away. We may be able to prevent delivery if the message has not yet been sent, but we cannot guarantee this.

What do the different message tones mean?

We offer three tone options:

  • Friendly Heads-Up: A gentle, casual reminder that maintains a light and supportive tone
  • Genuine Concern: A more direct but still caring message that acknowledges the importance of the issue
  • Serious But Kind: A firm message that emphasizes the impact on others while remaining respectful

Will the recipient know this came from a paid service?

The message is sent from our service and includes our branding. The recipient will know it came from Forgot Soap, but they will not know who paid to send it or have any information about the sender.
